I'd like to get the next "officlal" JEmplode installers up on the site by the end of this week (rather than continuing to send people to the "unofficial" download site). I've tried to put in all the requests I've gotten so far ... Does anyone have any last requests that I might be able to put into this release? Let me know and I'll see if I can fit it in...

I am probably a bit out of date so my apologies if you have already gotten to some of these...

1. Fix the awt ArrayIndexOutOfBounds after (unsuccessful?) sync on OS X
2. Fix the ID3 issue where an exception is thrown if there is an empty v2 date tag
3. Ability to edit config.ini
4. nometal look by default on OS X
5. Don't forget the .jar (version without installer)

BTW, the last few versions that I have used with have been great. Keep up the good work.

dclesse, I'll second that!

Now, this may not be trivial to do. But there are not that many options to connect my brand-new Mk1 to OSX... 8-(

I am looking into options for USB support ... On linux there is the jUSB project, but there is no equivalent for Windows. I have started work on a Windows implementation of jUSB, but I haven't had much time to get very far with it. I can pretty much guarantee that this won't make the next release, but I'm working on it -- it's really high on my list.

1. I'll look into this one -- I keep forgetting to do that ...
2. Have you checked the recent builds? I don't know if Daniel has gotten a chance to work on this -- I'll ask him...
3. That's in there now (as of just a couple days ago)
4. So do you think the the Java Aqua gui is good enough? This shouldn't be any big deal to do if you think it's ready...
5. Yep

Thanks
Mike

That's great! I'll wait patiently while my mp3s trickle across the serial cable ....

No really, take your time, good to know you're on it!

Thanks for giving us an emplode that runs under OSX!

How about replicating the "edit config.ini" on to the same menu where it appears in Emplode?

Oh -- you're an OS X person I have NO idea about Java + USB on OS X... Do you know how close the USB implementation is to Linux's?

File Names when downloading from the player should be editable. Currently, it has just the song name. It would be cool to have Artist - Album - Song - Track#.mp3 or something like that.

Thanks and keep up the great work, love the GUI.

Honestly, I have no idea where it actually appears in RioEmplode -- Is there a registry key to enable that option or am I just blind?

Totally different. It does not even resemble BSD's as I understand it. Apple built their own driver system for OS X. Nothing happens when you plug the empeg in to an OS X box with USB, no log messages, no new dev entries, nothing. I think you would need a kernel module to support it. Now kernel modules for OS X are supposed to be easier to write than for you average *nix, but I bet it would still be a lot of work :-(

I've implemented most of these requests (not USB ) -- new alpha is up at http://www.batmanthehorse.com/jemplode/jemplode20.jar ... network discovery on Windows ia MUCH faster on my machine (apparently, printing out an InetAddress causes DNS to kick in -- so my debug output was reallllly slowing things down printing out a bunch of lookups of broadcast addresses).

A lot of the new little tweaks are in the Options menu item under "Tools".

You need to read the FAQ on RioCar.Org, regarding config.ini.
There's a link to it from the text on my Hijack site, too!

The "Edit config.ini" is normally on the "Tools" menu of RioEmplode.
